Grace McBrien Psychotherapy

Individuals

Individual psychotherapy is a one-to-one based talking therapy. Individuals come to psychotherapy for various reasons, but commonly express that life is not quite how they would like it to be. Individual psychotherapy can help with identifying and communicating needs and wants. Leading to a greater sense of ease and contentment with life.

Individual therapy allows you to explore and reveal vulnerabilities in a containing and conscious way. We get the pace of the work correct for you so that you can manage any resulting feelings and thoughts outside of the sessions. I provide an appropriate space for you to feel reassured yet appropriately challenged.

Having worked with adults who have experienced

  • Relationship issues, loss, divorce, seperation, childhood difficulties
  • Depression, stress and anxiety
  • Compulsive or addictive behaviours
  • Neuro - developmental traits
  • Abusive and controlling relationships
  • Physical health conditions

I help you to make sense of your experience. So that you can understand how it impacts your feelings, thoughts and behaviours. Individual psychotherapy can be open-ended and either long-term or short-term. The length of the work will depend on your motivation for the work and this will be discussed during the consultation.

Practical information

Booking a consultation is the beginning stage of thinking about working with me. It allows for us to explore expectations and be clear about our roles and responsibilities in working together.

We then put this verbal conversation into a contract, that forms our basis for working together and review this contract as our work progresses. It is a safe and considered way of working together to help you get the best experience from being in psychotherapy. Sessions are fifty-minutes duration and generally I see you at the same time, on the same day each week. Appointments can be face to face or through telecommunication applications.
